If you love somebody, let them go, for if they return, they were always yours.
And if they don't, they never were.

  1. That's a beautiful quote Marzie. That saying is sometimes attributed to Gibran, but I'm not sure if he actually said it. where it originated from is really not important though. I believe that if you love someone let them go because sometimes the people and objects we love are not meant to be ours forever. If your love has power they will come back to you. Love is sometimes a selfish action. You want to hold the person to you, when actually love should set everybody free. There is no holding somebody close to you just because you love them. Let them free, as the saying goes. If they return, they are yours forever.

'Letting go' doesn't mean that one should end the relationship though.

  2. I've heard it a lot but I don't know the source same as u. I rather behave like that sometimes because it makes me feel I respect individual freedom. On the contrary, I usually believe my endeavor is determinative and I should do my best. As in Islamic thought we are told:
    "لیس للانسان الا ما سعی."
I , for one hardly believe in effort and its role in our life and relationships.

anyway, ur last sentence is marvellous,
